ftServer 6500 Series Features and Benefits

The ftServer 6500 system shares all of the major benefits of the ftServer product family, including lockstep technology, failsafe software, the ActiveService architecture and operational simplicity based on industry-standard hardware and operating systems. Unique benefits of the 6500 include:

• Maximum performance
  The 6500 system offers the highest performance levels within the ftServer family using the latest generation Intel Xeon MP processors. The 6500 is the world's only 4-way SMP fault-tolerant Windows server.

• Expanded I/O and storage
  The ftServer 6500 system provides 16 total PCI slots and four independent PCI buses to handle I/O intensive applications. The 6500 system also offers several storage options including SCSI expansion to 28 disks, ftStorage fibre channel RAID and fully-certified EMC Clariion or Symmetrix storage arrays.

• Integrated remote out-of-band management
  Every 6500 system includes dual ftServer Access Adapters that provide both a separate Ethernet and modem management connection to the system and allow management access independent of the host operating system.

• Triple Module Redundancy
  The ftServer 6500 is available with Triple Module Redundancy (TMR). TMR configuration add a third CPU-memory enclosure to allow the system to continue running in a fully fault-tolerant mode in the event that a CPU-memory enclosure fails or is offline for maintenance or reconfiguration purposes.
